The Setup
Jimmy worked with the team at Expedition Systems to put together a build that could handle absolutely everything — remote touring, work in the scrub, or weeks off-grid.
Here’s what went into the dream build:
- Bug-Out Tray — 100x50x6 headboard, steel subframe, removable deck, built to last a lifetime
- Bomb Shelter Canopy — fully framed, dust-proof, waterproof with the ability to lift off and set as a base amp
- 70L Headboard Tank — onboard filtered or non-filtered water and a stand-alone creek draw system meaning the tank can be re-filled from any water source
- Under Tray Boxes — housing both the water system and electrics
- 335kg-Rated Trundle Drawer — mounted underneath the tray, perfect for tools and recovery gear - “It’s not just about having storage — it’s about having gear that actually works under load. That trundle drawer’s been a game-changer.”
- Under tray Auxiliary box — tucked away, housing the pumps and air compressor, out of the way and fully protected
- 400Ah Lithium System — managed by a Redarc Alpha 75
- 3000W Inverter + 400W Solar — full off-grid power setup

- Drive Side Engel Fridge on Tilt Slide — because cold drinks should always be within arm’s reach
